What type of coverage do you need?

Having been involved in the insurance industry for over 25 years now, life insurance is still the topic no one really wants to discuss.  No one wants to think of the “what if…”.   If I’m honest, I don’t particularly like to discuss it either.   However, I’ve been on both sides of the coin with this one.  So, at the end of the day, I must put aside my likes and dislikes and deal with the elephant in the room…  because it’s not about you!  It’s about THEM!

I’ve been the daughter-in-law, standing in the room when the doctor said, “two weeks at best” …  and it was literally ….  two weeks.   I’ve been the grandchild who was told, “it’s only a matter of time.”  I’ve been the mom, when my infant son was lying in a hospital bed and they said, “we don’t know what’s wrong, and we don’t know what to expect.”

I’ve also been the agent delivering a check to a family in the most tragic time of their life, simply because their loved one thought about them enough to take care of it. I’ve been an agent who looked a widow in the face …. and with a complete lack of words, had to explain I tried….  I tried to get them to consider coverage.

When I sat for the State of Texas Insurance Agents exam, I literally made a promise to you, our clients…. The promise was to TELL you, TALK to you, and INFORM you of a potential risk or “loophole” in ALL coverage.  Funny how we all want to talk about the “loopholes” when the table shifts to our favor or it’s a subject we want to discuss.  The truth of the matter….  you can never have TOO MUCH life insurance, because it’s NOT ABOUT YOU…   it’s about THEM.

I’ll leave you with this question…...  If you knew tomorrow was your last day on this earth, how much would be enough to leave your spouse, children, grandchildren, and loved ones?   Don’t be overwhelmed by that number….  just do something about it.   Buying life insurance doesn't mean you're planning to die.... it simply means you care enough for the ones left behind to ensure they don’t have to struggle in your passing.
